After being revealed at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show, the Hyundai Genesis sedan enters the 2012 model year with a new version added to the line-up, exterior design improvements, new direct injection technology for its Lambda V6 engine, new eight-speed automatic transmissions, and enhanced chassis tuning. For 2012 the Genesis will go on sale at a starting price of $34,200 for the base model and will go up to $46,500 for the R-Spec version.

For the new model year, the Genesis will get a more aggressive grille and front fascia design, new headlight design with LED accents and daytime running lights, redesigned rear taillights, while the line-up will include: a 3.8 version powered by a 333 HP 3.8-liter V6 engine, a 4.6 version with a 385 HP 4.6 V8 engine, while the most powerful version, R-Spec will get a 5.0-liter direct-injected V8 with an impressive output of 429 HP.

Rumors about an Audi R4 sports car are circulating for a very long time now. And even if Audi denied its existence a few time, the fact that Volkswagen Group announced the BlueSport concept will see three different versions of production, brought the R4 back in the cards. And while first rumors suggested it might be revealed in 2010, the car will actually debut in 2014 as a 2015 model and will share its platform with the new entry-level Porsche and Volkswagen two-seaters.

Talking with AutoCar about this new model, an Audi source said: “We have not abandoned plans for a roadster along the lines of the E-tron Spyder. We have reached a stage where we are moving forward and are now in the process of progressing the business case further, but it won?t go on sale until after the third-generation TT.”

So, this can be translated into the fact that the R4 won’t hit the market until late 2014 and it will be designed in such a manner that it won’t hurt the sales of the existing models, both TT and R8 supercar, meaning it will be placed somewhere in the middle.

Is it just us or has the Chinese market received tons of special edition BMW M3s lately? In March, the company unveiled an M3 Coupe Matte Edition after last year’s M3 Tiger Edition, and they’re prepping the market for another one: the M3 Carbon Edition. This new special edition is limited to only 111 units and deliveries will begin in July at a starting price of 1.23 million yuan, or about $189,000 at the current exchange rates.

As its name suggests, the M3 Carbon Edition is all about carbon fiber. It will include a carbon fiber roof, black wheels, an auto scanner, a carbon fiber kit, carbon fiber rear spoiler, high-gloss chrome trim, and contrasting white and black leather with white stitching on the interior. A “carbon edition” logo on the door handles will help to further identify the special edition.

The carbon fiber roof reduces the car’s weight by about 11 lbs, but it also lowers the center of gravity. Under the hood, everything remains unchanged: a 420 HP V8 engine matched to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission Drivelogic.

Italian automaker, Maserati, is getting ready for the inaugural season of the Trofeo JBF RAK Middle East, a one-make racing series that will feature 12 races spread across the Middle East competed by 16 cars of the same kind. For this race, Maserati has announced the use of the new GranTurismo MC Trofeo JBF RAK Race Car, which will be used by the racers while being maintained and managed by Maserati themselves for the entire 12-race calendar. For the GranTurismo MC Trofeo JBF RAK Race Car, Maserati is outfitting the rear-wheel drive race car with a 4.7-liter V8 engine that produces 488 horsepower.

The season is set to kick off on November 11, 2011 and will feature races in venues across the Middle East, including the Yas Marinas F1 circuit in Abu Dhabi, the Bahrain International Circuit in Bahrain, the Dubai Autodrome in Dubai, and the Losail Ciruit in Qatar. Those interested in driving the GranTurismo MC Trofeo JBF RAK Race Car will have to fork over an entry fee of $135,000 to $145,000, which, in addition to driving the car, will also come with logistical management of the car, technical assistance at the circuit, a Maserati Trofeo race suit, and VIP hospitality for driver and guests.

It’s hard to find that kind of money lying around, but if we did have the funds for it, we’d jump at the opportunity to be part of this new Maserati racing series.

Just when you thought the Lexus CT200h wasn?t going to get another race-inspired version, the people over at Gazoo Racing have unveiled their own racing version of the compact sports hybrid. Seems appropriate considering that Gazoo Racing isn?t a stranger to Lexus race cars, counting the LF-A supercar as one of the racers in its stable.

As for the CT200h, Gazoo Racing will be entering it into the SP4 Class of the Adenauer ADAC Rundstrecken-Trophy – a six-hour endurance race at the Nurburgring that will be attended by around 200 other cars. Piloting the Gazoo Racing CT during the endurance race will be the three-man team of Kumi Sato, Masahiko Kageyama, and Minoru Takaki.

To give the CT200h the proper race specs, Gazoo Racing went to work on the car?s performance attributes, opting against using the 1.8 liter VVT-I petrol engine that comes with the standard version of the CT200h and instead using a much larger 2.4-liter version with an electric motor, a generator, a high performance battery, a power control unit, and a power split device. During start-ups and braking, the CT200h will only use its electric motor, saving all the energy expended by the VVT-I engine for higher speeds. Even more impressive about the car is that it will require less fuel and will emit less carbon dioxide and NOx gases compared to all other race cars of its class.

According to the British magazine Autocar, Mercedes is planning a new high-performance four-door coupe that will sit above the current CLS in both performances and price range and will target models like Bentley Continental GT. Mercedes sources have described the model as “über-CLS” (“over-CLS”) and it will feature a more dramatic design language and will feature AMG engines and chassis. Of course that all this improvements will be translated into a considerably higher price. This model will be mostly offered on markets that require ultra-expensive, high-performance models, particularly in Russia and the Middle East.

You should also consider this model as a response to the forthcoming extreme Porsche Panamera GT coupe that it is expected to be revealed sometime next year.

Same sources confirm that is very likely to also see a Maybach version of this model taking under consideration the huge success the Xenatec 62S Coupe has on the market. However, do not expect this new model before the early 2015.

Any time multiple Ferraris can be found together in the same place is exciting; when there is a reported $100,000,000 worth of Ferraris, its downright spectacular! This weekend a collection of vintage and late model Ferraris will be showcased on the famed Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena, CA. The Ferrari Club of North America is putting on the event and it will be open to the public for your viewing pleasure. In attendance last year were nearly 100 vintage Ferrari models covering the entirety of Colorado Boulevard for several blocks.

Ferrari has always been known to create the most innovative and spectacular sports cars the world has ever seen. For the most part, only the super rich can afford the rarer and prized models, but this weekend will give the average Joe a chance to see them all. In attendance last year was a Pebble Beach Councours winner – 250 Series I Cabriolet – and other best in show cars such as the Agnelli 400 SA which came from the Museum in Maranello.
